Best find of the year (for me anyway)

I found this beautifull oak today at the side of a slipway which is due to be re concreted in a few weeks (so i had no qualms chipping away some concrete to get at it)

It looks like you have feeder roots other than the taproot which will be invaluable. Conversely, from the pictures it looks like those feeder roots are exposed thus will die back. My advice (which is worth the hypothetical paper I'm not writing on) is to cover those feeder roots and be very careful with your watering as your soil looks very organic and broadleaf oaks are very sensitive to overly moist conditions.

thanks for the concern i realised that when i potted it but that was all the soil i had i have now mixed in a load of gravel sand and very small pebbles.
