Sheesh, I thought it was a legit thread. Well maybe the gardinia, but hey there is a saying that there is an ass for every seat, I guess if he gets one or two then there are some real dum dums buying from e bay.

Does he do this regular, I would think e bay would think hey we are getting a black eye out of this, but do they have any resources to check for this garbage.

not bad for a $30 burt davy, wonder if they brought it from Thialand thru customs or in a suitcase

Obviously, there is rampant ignorance amongst the general population, with regards to the art of bonsai, and these sellers are trying to take advantage of that.

But I wonder if there are the same kind of shenanigans going on when it comes to painting and sculpture. Are there people who are trying to sell cheap, $25 paintings as "masterpieces", for thousands of dollars? I have never checked, but I imagine that there are. So, bonsai may not be the only art form, with scam artists trying to steal a buck. It must be the same with any kind of collectibles, as well.

What I'm thinking is at some point someone bought these masterpieces otherwise why would he be doing this. I wonder what the customers think and what their facial expression would be after finding one of these (especially the tropical) on their doorstep after a hard days on a cold day like we have here in Delaware today.

Atilla, your assumptions are mostly correct. In the case of "Mr. Brainwash" (or MBW), a total moron started copying Banksy (the british equivalent) and has made millions off of terrible, unoriginal "art." There is even a documentary on it showing his progression and almost instant fame and wealth. If you look up his "original" "art", most of it is over $10k. Being rich and ignorant is truly a tragedy.

Those of us with eBay accounts should all pick one tree and do low "Or Best Offer" prices on it. Maybe the seller will get the point :D
