Best time to collect crape myrtle

have a huge crape myrtle that I want to start a long project on that has a really nice trunk. What is the best time of year to dig these up? Wil lit survive if I collect it now?

Well that sucks. I heard some people do it late spring early summer with success. I know they're very hearty trees and can take a beating.

I've done major root work on smaller nursery stock in the middle of summer without an issue. But I haven't tried anything that size. Probably best to wait as Dave says.

Now might be a good time to pick your trunks and chop them short to get started on the next section of trunk.
