Very un-Cherry-like bark, not to speak of size.
Not sure what to say. I am speculating. I know it stops traffic when it blooms. Covered almost completely with pinkish white flowers. It definitely has a weeping growth habit. Any guesses?

There's a less common variety of weeping cherry (a hybrid of some sort), that gets much larger with much coarser bark, and the same contorted branching as in your picture. There's one planted at a neighbor's place here in Maryland. Here's a picture of a similar tree, a "Higan" cherry, from Getty Images.

Nice tree, but still not the same bark. I don't doubt that it might be a cherry. Prunus is a big genus and there may be one with that kind of non-Cherry bark, but it could just as easily be something else. I'd really like to know what it is. We need to plant more of them!:)
