Got this spruce yesterday. Wasn’t going to buy anything but I could not resist. Don’t know the species but I Loved the trunk and It cost me 10 euros. Now, I know nothing about spruce so I hope I can make something out of it.
Oh well. I don’t know what it is. We’ll see.I hope it's not Picea Glauca. It doesn't look like it very much, but it does give off that vibe.
Picea glauca are notorious for being stuck to fingers during christmas. But they're hard to train into a bonsai. Their branches don't droop naturally, which means they will have to be wired all year long.
I have 3 of those glauca, and we're in a love-hate relationship.
Apparently it’s not the greatest bonsai material. Anyways, I just went through and styled the tree. I’m quite happy with the result. Also checked the roots and they seem to be ok. No need for repot so I will let the tree recover for one year and maybe repot in spring 2020.Sure looks like a dwarf Alberta spruce (Picea Glauca, possibly var Albertina) to me.
Not all bad, IMHO.
Not your work, huh?Excuse the kid’s drawings on the black wall.
I can do many things but drawing is not on that list ?Not your work, huh?
I rather like it. Further, it enhances the presentation of your work!
I kind of like the trunks as they are. Only slightly bent the short one on the right. If you want, you could bend the trunks now. I found that even though people say they are hard to set, that leaving the wire on for a year does a pretty good job. Especially through winter. It is going to bite in, though.
