I got a Chinese bird plum about a week ago and it's been showing black spots for several days. I read online that these trees drop leaves seasonally, but I'm not sure if this is due to that or something else. I water it when the pot gets light and the soil looks dry, I was told they should stay lightly moist but not soaked. I know it's in regular soil, I have bonsai mix but I'm worried that repotting now would kill it. Can anyone help? Im sorry the picture is blurry, my hands shake pretty badly and it was the best I could do

I'm sorry, I'll try to get a better one. I posted this on the new to bonsai forum but got no responses. I'm not sure if it's overwatered or has black spot

Hmm thats a new one, black spots on Sageretia.

May I suggest where you bought it or a garden centre and ask
questions.

Hands shake - ask someone to do the images for you - no sweat.
Welcome to Bnut.
Good Day

A tripod and using the time delay for the camera will give you a better photo. My phone will delay 3 seconds or 10 seconds before snapping the picture.

Looks similar to the black spot roses get. However Sageretia is not related to roses, it is more closely related to the buckthorns. SO I have no clue as to which of the hundreds of fungi could be causing your black spot. As a shot in the dark any rose spray that says it is for black spot would be worth a try. Remember, it will not cure your black spot where it already exists, the spray might eliminate the black spot on new leaves. I would remove the affected leaves, don't leave them on the ground nearby, remove from the area, or burn them.

I bought it online from a garden place I've bought from many times, hirts. I'll try some fungicide. Should I remove any leave with even a small spot on them?

I've sprayed the tree with daconil and removed the dead leaves. It's also now in some well draining bonsai mix. Let's hope it pulls through. Thank you guys so much for your help
