Hi all. I a am from south africa (cape town) I'm new to this forum and enjoy it. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by the horrible bombing in boston.
 
I've gone to watch the marathon more times then I can remember...from that area at the finish more then once. It's such an iconic event for Boston, which is a GREAT city. To see the carnage wrought on innocent spectators who were doing nothing more then cheering on a friend or loved one is heartbreaking and maddenning. The images are horrific, right out of a war zone. Still, seeing everyone-bystanders, National Guard, Boston PD and FD along with EMS, immediately leap into action to help the stricken was comforting. I pray the injured recover, thank God for those who were there to lend a hand to those who needed it, and can't wait to see the SOB's reponsible in shackles.
 
My daughter-in-law was running the Boston Marathon yesterday. Thankfully she had already finished. She said she was about a half mile away when the bombs exploded.

Our hearts go out to those who were killed and injured and to their families.
 
One bad guy down, with one to go. One police officer lost his life and others injured last night fighting the good fight confronting these evil men...another tragedy to say the least...thumbs up to the FBI for flushing these guys out of their hole.

Thank you for the kind sentiments. It sounds like they know the terrorists, have killed one, and are hot in pursuit of the second. Sounds like they were individuals from Chechnya who had been living in the Boston area for about a decade. Little else is known about their possible motives.

That said, I'm going to leave this thread here for about a day, but since it is off-topic (at least regarding bonsai) I will move it to the Karaoke Bar.
 
I'm from Boston and we have been watching this whole thing live. The police are doing a fantastic job. It is like watching a movie.
 
I have been riveted to the tele as well. One of the news broadcasts made the remark on finding out that these boys have been living here more than ten years and seemed to have become Americanized, how they could turn on their new home in this way? I have an answer for them. When those of us who were born here, have allowed a sizable portion of our population to think being anti-American in thought, speech and deed to be cool, how can you think that someone not born into this culture would understand what America is all about when it seems many native born Americans don't understand either?
 
I agree with Joe, it did for a moment look like a movie. I woke up to a robo call from work saying something about mbta shutdown and knew something had happened. The police forces are doing an incredible job, though we're helped by the attack being caught on thousands of cameras at the finish line of the race.
 
My wife and I watched this all day. The police were incredible. Accordng to the Boston Chief of Police, the owner of the house where the suspect was hiding told the police that he saw blood on the tarp, opened it and saw the suspect bleeding. The owner called police and the rest is history.

I caught this story on my TV and then inadvertently clicked on Rivero's pages..hmm,could be.

Previously i asked an ex-RAF police officer about Claymore anti-personel mines and from the response it wasn't clear if this device was a professional munition or if it was fit for a purpose.

I guess we are now seeing who is laying claim to the benefit of it,strange indeed that killings of your own people can and does suit the agenda of domestic politics.

No escape from that,they can't wriggle out it even with the best script writters the Federal Reserve notes can buy.

She also said that suspects who are alleged to have gone on a killing spree do the police a favour by shooting themselves,these deranged psycho's are so civic minded.

And their uncle,poor guy,had to do a sorry-ass lambast and he don't know if it's BS anymore than the next guy.
 
Early on it was going to be the work of "Islamists" or else "Right wing Extremists",they were reporting these speculations with more glee than usual.

So much so that the geezer they had on air to represent the US intelligence gathering began factoring them into his hypothesis whilst entertaining we viewers with trivia about explosives from his sources that even a child could find online in moments.

Oh well,on with empire.
 
TV presenters now realise they were had by the US department of psychological warfare,and yes American citizens were callously murdered.

Better than counter-intelligence nuking washington though.
