I was wondering if anyone on here has tried to make a Bonsai from a Cornus sanguinea Arctic Sun Dogwood or any Cornus? I have 3 extra dogwoods from a landscaping job that chose not to use them. The potential size if left alone is roughly 3 feet x 3 feet.

They are currently in 2gal nursery pots. We are having, what I'm guessing is, our last warm weekend this weekend; mid 60s. So, I'm putting them out to over winter and packing putting leaf litter around the pots. Come spring I'll start some heavy pruning and root pruning. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I notice that dogwood growth is mostly straight arrow, but I don't know why it wouldn't work out. The leaves are not too large, and they have some nice attributes. There are some good images if you google.
Why not try?

As an aside it's good that you notice that "straight arrow". The American Indians would chop down larger dogwood trees and new sprouts would come up from the roots. They grow straight as an arrow, so happens, also the right diameter for making an arrow shaft. And that is exactly what they did with them.
