Thisn too...I think this has the best for the root balance info....

But more pertinent is some recent RockM info about "growing" these out...and what "good" material is.

I have what I think is a boxwood. First thing I ever started cutting up in the hopes of starting a bonsai. It was a little aggressive and probably to much considering the top I left is slowly dying. I just got carried away...
Good news! It lived! I let it grow out last year after I cut it down to the last two leaves per branch like sorce suggested.
I was able to get some back budding which I needed badly because it used to be a hedge.
Clipped it the same way again today, except I left a few more leaves on the really low buds that came in to encourage more growth.

Thanks for the info @sorce

Shit! That canopy there may be a little difficult to clean up...

But I'll be damned if it aint the perfect size for that trunk!

If that low growth stays on push...
I'd open it up a bit more in there...maybe deleting a couple "in the way" trunks in a month or so...
Another good hard proper clean so you can leave it to its own Devices for a while without much trouble...

Lil strength gain.

Base is dope.

Kill!

Yeah the top is terrible but I like that base too.

My goal was to get some green low enough to chop with more of a safety net. Thinking let it grow until next year and follow the advice in this video

I found it here on another boxwood thread but I believe that sorce originally posted it.

I replaced some of the soil in the smallest Middle one...it has put on decent buds for next year.
The left one was potted the first Full Moon after the Solstice into one of my seconds.

This one fell once and took a ball hit. Windswept future.20180825_070812.jpg

This most Extreme Repot didn't grow much at all this year..but has continually gained strength through the year and has put on a bunch of good buds for spring!20181020_075650.jpg20181020_075800.jpg20181020_075822.jpg20181020_075902.jpg

Meh.

And this went in a "seconds" pot this year for S&G.

Couple that went into baskets last year will be potted next summer.

One windswept.
One Broom.

Coming along!
My little Korean Boxwood has barely grown in 2 years now, since repotting into a small colander type pot...
It actually just started thowing a few shoots in late Sept.

I think its gonna take off next year.

I am not enjoying colander growth.
Everything straight to pots!
