Blue spruce yamadori with new shoes

Finally repotted this blue spruce the other day. Two winters ago, mice or some kind of rodent staged an attack, killed a few trees, and burrowed out a good portion of the roots of this tree to make a home. This required an emergency repot in winter, and last year I just let the tree recover. Anyway, here it is with a red clay Japanese pot from Matt Ouinga. It is a little shaggy and unwired right now, this summer it will get a trim and then rewired in fall.

Nice! I like it. You've got it planted on a rock(?) Is that to hide the rodent damage? Or are you going for a root-over-rock style down the road?

No rock, if you mean the stub at the left side of the trunk, it was a jin that trailed down below the edge of the pot.
