Is that one of those from the BIB auction?

This one had already been bud thinned and partially needle pluck back in September. I decided to finish the job today, removing the rest of last year’s spider mite ravaged needles along with some of this years. It needs to be rewired this winter.

Nice, though that picture with the ribbed forceps can tell more than what may be intended to those with an imagination that resides half way in the gutter.

I really just want to say....

As much as I look forward to you retiring and working your tree field, I'm going to miss this thread, it will have to be ressurected as Bonsai at Bonsai, or Work at Work!

I love how the folaige pads of the last one balance out the curves, the spaces the masses fills have such a great equal weight. I'd like to see you play that up with a rewire.

More Japanese black pine fall work. This is a tree that I’ve been playing around with since I acquired it as a seedling five or six years ago… Still haven’t picked a front for it yet, so it’s likely to go into a round pot eventually😉. Will get wired later on this year

This is a member of the six year Japanese black pine contest. Even though it’s only a few years old, it still needs to be needle plucked periodically. Right now, it has three sacrificial branches growing… I reduced the needles on all of them so they don’t shade out the buds down lower that will make up the final design. I went through the entire canopy and pulled old needles, as well.

Another slow day at work today… Bad for the Bonsai!/fund, but good for working on the trees I already have :). This one I’ve been working on for six or seven years and it may be ready for a training pot soon… Too many fronts to choose from... 😬

Another seedling I’m working for the six-year Japanese black pine contest. Needle plucked The sacrifice branch and then the buds popping from the lower trunk, but left more than I needed for future branching.
