I've been dabbling with bonsai for a few years, but live in a relatively remote area. As such, much of my bonsai "education" has come from reading bonsai blogs and websites. Other than Bonsainut.com (which has been great), what are some other informative websites out there that you all regularly visit or can recommend? Thanks in advance.

Each of those have enough info to keep you busy for a year if you dig hard enough. Note, some are easier to navigate than others.

Each should also have links to other bonsai sites like this... http://peterteabonsai.wordpress.com/bonsai-links/

Those will take you to more, equally impressive, sites. Have fun! :)

There are a LOT of videos on you tube. Search "bonsai" or an individual like "Ryan Neil" or even "black pine bonsai". I learned a lot by watching Ryan Neil's lectures on pines.

Good luck

If you are a feedly reader i can share my OPML file with you. I have about 170 blogs on there. Some more active than others.

I have a bunch more in my RSS reader, but those are the ones that I like the best. Might have left out a couple. A couple guys here have blogs I just couldn't think of them at the moment. TMason's is one of them.

If you are in the northern lower peninsula you might want to consider joining Sakura Bonsai Society of Traverse City. We have members who travel over an hour each way to come to meetings.

Joining a club is widely recognized as the best way to learn to do bonsai. I strongly believe it would be worth while to do that. If that is not possible, perhaps you can find a mentor who is closer to you. I can tell you from experience that reading is a slow and inefficient way to go about it.

There may be a few people left alive who know how to read a book -- although turning pages is quite strenuous.

I have mine that load automatically on a blog reader app called feedly. About two years ago someone posted on one of the blogs I follow I bundle of 400 blogs that you could just load into the reader. I get 40 articles a day. I wish I could remember who had that. Half of them are not in English, but you can follow what they are doing. It's actually my favorite way to learn about bonsai.

I read tons of books. Non bonsai related. So do most of my friends. We are in our thirties. Half of the time on my iPad half of the time actually real hardback books. :D
