Really only an amazing and interesting tree would work in that pot in my opinion...
My opinion, too.
Simple excellence, I would say...
Wood fired stoneware. I do love this pot!
It's price is prohibitive for a lot of enthusiasts, though...
@Vlad Cruceanu do you have a special bonsai tree in mind to be put into this pot, may I ask?

No, I don't have it. I started building bonsai pots in the last 2-3 months and the classics vs special pots is a very interesting subject for me.

I came to bonsai out an attraction to japanese maples in large glazed shallow ovals. 3-4 years later, i still only dream of putting maples in large glazed shallow ovals. just personal preference at the moment.

pictures for fun :)

I love these shallow pots but they are often hard to find. When you do find one that is large enough, the price is also "large enough", lol...

That Mirai pot is SOOOO expensive. For $1800 there better be a very impressive tree going in there!!!

What do you think about this pot?

This pot will not take the viewer's eyes from the tree, while it's a very special one. It will help the tree / pot image.
Not even a bonsai pot.
I wouldn't even let my trees see that thing.
As you can tell I like classic style pots.
Not these other raw, unfinished, ugly things that look like mistakes.

Why is it not sensible?

Personally both depending on tree. Tree is supposed to be focal point of interest with pot being its compliment. Pot should never draw attention away from tree. If wanting pot to be point of display take to pot show;).
