[Bonsai Nut]

Bonsai-snob (noun) a person who actually knows about bonsai and upsets others by telling the truth.

Bonsai-snob - a person with low self-esteem who seeks confirmation by constantly telling others how much better their trees/pots/skills are. Only associates with those they perceive as bonsai experts, looks down on those they perceive as bonsai beginners.

But to be honest, this description isn't confined to bonsai. Name an activity, and there will be snobs. For the most part, I consider them harmless, if annoying. Once you understand where they're coming from... I tend to feel pity and a little sadness for them.
