The Japan Festival is ongoing at Johnson County Community College, and so it's time for the fall show from the Kansas City area. I was there and got a few shots of some of the trees.

The display is set up in a very high-traffic area, attendees must go through the exhibit to get to the bazaar area, unless they come up the elevators. So actual attendance is difficult to gauge, but there is a constant stream of people checking out the trees for two days.

These photos are fairly casual because of the casual nature and setting of the show.

The first photo is either a scots or mugho pine, not sure which. I am betting on scots.
Second is a Chinese elm saikei.
Third is a Japanese beech. I think this one is the finest in the show (that I can publish).

An unnamed juniper variety.

Trident Maple.

Buttonwood on custom stand. The final pic is a better view of the stand alone, created by the tree's owner of his own design. He is a wonderful woodworker who also makes musical instruments (guitars, etc.)

Japanese black pine.

Ficus benjamina.

Ben Oki doing his demonstrations for an appreciative audience. This is held in an out-of-the-way spot on the first floor, so folks had to look for it to find it.
