I wanted to add a couple water lilies around the shrine of bonsai I have. I wasn’t completely sure if you can bonsai water lilies either way I had purchased a few hanging planters for aquatics and was going to put water lilies in them.
currently awaiting a reply from CZgrain for exactly what species they are.

You can't really bonsai water lilies, as they aren't woody plants like trees and shrubs. Best to use dwarf varieties if you have smaller water containers.

I been planting all types of stuff in different soils recently and have become convinced anything can be dwarfed.

I've seen miniature lotuses grown in decorative bowls and displayed in shows very much like bonsai. Because of the small volume of water, they need to be watered daily or more, also just like bonsai. It might be possible to miniaturize waterlilies in the same way.
