My neighbor was tired of her bougainvillea that she hated trimming so, with out look too hard at them I offered to take all 4 out of her garden. Worst thing that could happen is getting a few mediocre trees. She was amazed that I would do it for free. Ha!

Here is the start in November 2020.

Obviously, November is not an ideal time to dig these up but, I had no choice. My neighbor wanted them gone.

To my surprise the first one was far from mediocre.

Here is the tree in March 2022. It went into full bloom mode during the winter. At this point I was just enjoying the flowers.

There is a large hole (about 3" in diameter) on the right side. It was a cavity that I drilled out to allow for drainage. At this point, the back right of the tree was barely pushing growth around the hole. This would later die and leave a large chunk of dead wood at the base. Not ideal for a bougainvillea.

I'm in Florida on the border between zone 9b and 10a so yea...we get some big bougainvillea around here. This one is estimated to be 25 years old.
Very nice. I am up in the Ocala Forest area. Here is an old one I brought from SoCal.
