My overgrown and in need of cutback bougainvillea develops these white dead spots on the bracts and some flowers are deformed. Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas on the cause? I can’t find anything similar online. It’s always done it since I’ve owned it. I’ve had chlorosis problems on the leaves, but that seems to be corrected with the last couple years of irrigation water acidification. I fertilized this February with BouGain. It’s in a 1:1:1 APL mix just repotted summer ‘21. Also, stays out all year and temps didn’t get below 40F.

I’ve tried some fungicides in previous years, but that didn’t seem to prevent it. It is right next to a giant one in the ground that doesn’t show any discoloration.

Thanks!

I’ve always thought that’s the way they get when they’re old. The red ones blow off while the purple ones stay longer but look beat up. 36F56ABF-7EB4-41D0-B33E-F98D7F37D7A3.jpegEE2756AC-D39C-412C-8C34-E7E388ACE346.png

My again, slightly overgrown bougie has some leaf wrinkling that appears to be a nutrient deficiency (red circle and arrows below). Online search for wrinkled leaves of other plants, returns possible calcium deficiency. Has anyone else seen this in bougainvillea?

The bract and leaf discoloration has gone away since moving and getting better water and more rain. It still gets BouGain and Gro-power.

Thanks!
