Got this large Bougainvillea at our bonsai club auction.

At some time in the future when I've had some more experience I'd like to carve the deadwood stump. The wood is pretty soft and crumbly. Should I assume this is all going to rot away? Will lime sulphur work on this if I get the bark off, or should I let it just naturally weather/crumble away the soft stuff?

Any comments greatly appreciated!

Thanks, I am going to let it rot away and work with the live part. It's so big, that is too much lime sulphur/minwax to waste, if that may only slow it's decay.
