Just acquired a Bougi from my friend Joe at Artisans Bonsai Tampa. He suggested a style, defoliate and repot this beautiful creation.

The tropical answer to Japanese Ume.

Nice....

These are that good if we want them to be!

Here's to the "hot boys/gals".

I kind of hate you that your trees are outside and there are green trees in the background, but not your fault I live in a weather hellhole. Very pretty.
My plants and I will be hating you back this summer when we are in our 4th straight week of triple digits this summer so its all good!

I gotta 24" Stihl Farm Boss, good mid-range saw.
Great for camping, over kill for around the house.
I know you probably play with some big boy saws!
When I have to use a saw anymore,it's to cut down trees too large for my feller buncher. 26 inch diameter and up.
We carry 2 saws in the truck for that. A Husqvarna 372xp with a big bore kit and 24 inch bar.
For the monster trees we have the Husqvarna 3120xp stick with a 36 inch bar. Its basically a 120cc dirt bike engine on it.
There isn't a tree in Michigan that I couldn't put on its side with that saw.
The drawback to these saws is they kick your ass carrying them all day. I just spent Thursday and Friday cutting down mammoth oaks. I'll be glad to climb back up in my machine tomorrow!
I turned 54 in January and I'm not liking saws too much anymore.

I run around in the woods with a Stihl 261C with an 18” bar. The land owner restricts the bar size, so we do not go crazy cutting trees. It gets pretty heavy after chopping up 20+ trees to firewood size in a day.

He mentioned that summer is a good time to repot the Bogi, I don’t recall if total defoliation is required when removing root work for repot.

I have repotted in summer, without defoliating, but didn't do much to the roots. @milehigh_7 could give you the best advice on that.
