Hey Guy's I've been posting this Boxwood a few times since I collected it 8 months ago. Was looking into the future. It has a long way to go. Looks like I'll be going in the "live oak style" because of its reverse taper throughout its branch structure and trunk. Also was thinking of trunk scar I guess it's dead in middle. Maybe some kind of hollowing what do you think I could do with this. Hers a pic.

Did a virt. Of what I think could look nice. But what do you think and any suggestions?

Can you post a picture of th tree as it is in its entirety? I don't see any issues with the base yo posted, but I will say the virt looks very good.

It looks really good after only 8 months. I think the virt provides a good solution to that scar.

Thanks. Here's a before collecting pic I previously posted. Thanks again.

How would you go about carving the trunk ? Dead in middle but if we're to carve out some live, how much is to much and is ok to carve out live wood. Any idea on how to start? Not that I'm going to do soon, but curious. Watched a lot of the Gramph potter vids but always on dead wood. Any starting points. And I know always on well established trees in good health . So not for a little while anyway, any suggestions?

Still not sure how to go about carving trunk... I guess I'll watch some more Graham Potter vids. There really good!

Is this the front? I am thinking there could be a better front than this.

For now, I would elect you leave the deadwood...esp if you are not sure what to do to improve it. It is actually nice as-is.

BTW, IMHO, it would help if you keep all posts for this tree in one thread...not 5 or so. ;)

I did not receive the Bonsai Nut handbook so I apologize :)
When I receive it I will read and study it thoroughly. :)

For right now this is the front unless I see something I'm missing.
Of course I would not dive right in an start carving not knowing what and how to do it.
Just getting suggestions and ideas. Thanks

Not a rule but just a suggestion ;) since having the photos and history together helps everyone. It is your tree and your threads...do as you please. :)

As I've said numerous times, you have a great tree there...it's potential is limited only by you.
