Hopefuly the pics come out. I have alot of boxwood in the backyard and some caught my eye as potential bonsai.I would love to give it a try but not sure when I should remove it and how much I should chop off. It is about 3 feet high and approx 4 ft long. Thanks , Joe

It would be best to trim them back while they are still in the ground, and not dig them up until you have some foliage growing closer in to the trunk.

yeah, cut it back hard and leave it in the ground and allow it to back bud, i have about 4 that i am currently doing this to this year and they are budding nicely already. (We have been gifted with a early spring) I plan to then dig them up next spring (after the risk of frost has past) and reduce heavy vertical rooting and place them into growing containers. -Anyone feel free to tell me if there is a better way to do this...
