I have had this tree for two years now. This is my first tree that I unleashed my bonsai tools that I got for Christmas on. First picture is what I started with. My plan for it is to shape it into a square shape as much as possible and keep the working the trunk. This is a very young tree and obviously needs to a lot of time to develop. I would like to either keep it cascading in its natural hang that it's doing now but develop great ramification keeping in mind the square shape. The other idea I'm working with is using wire and pull the trunk back and keep the tree more level. This would allow the square shape to be very defined. Again this is a brainstorm any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Lol... I like to live on the edge!! I think with time and development the square will naturally look good with the bend of the trunk!! lol will see maybe a pyramid at some point!!

It's way more dangerous to live on the edge of a triangle!

Horticulturally....a box is going to turn into a bunch of dead interior shoots with foliage just at the ends, so even if you were to get the excellent ramifications you seek, you won't want to show it!

You had me at Brainstorm....

So that's what we're gonna do until that tree dies...
Which....if it were mine....
Is gonna happen in about 8 days...or come spring!

Now that I know ...thanks @chicago1980 somehow hearing it in person made it sink in I guess....that a junipers energy is in the foliage...I know to keep some runners (strong growing tips)

(That's a blue rug juniper btw!)
Anyway....

I can't never recall ever seeing a runner on them Nanas...
So I wouldn't know where the hell to safely cut them back to anyway!

Anyway....

Trees or flat earth....

Go!

That's a valid point I never thought about. The dead interior areas is something to think about. Thanks for your time and links. I will consider what we brainstormed.
