Contemplating broom style.

In nature as well as in acclaimed broom bonsai, they exhibit reverse taper where the multiple branches split. I've never heard an "official" excuse for it in books, magazines, or on this; my favorite bonsai forum.

Plainly, is reverse taper acceptable on a proper broom?

That's not really what we consider "reverse taper."

Reverse taper occurs when some portion of the trunk (usually) appears swollen, with narrower portions below AND above the swelling.

In a typical broom, there's no trunk to speak of above where the branches diverge.
