I brought this Bucida Spinosa in for the winter when temps were in the 30’s 40’s. I probably kept it inside longer than I should have. December - March. I put it outside last week in partial sun maybe 5 hours worth a day. It really has not liked the move back outdoors.

Does this look like translocation stress or a sunburn? I moved it to an even shadier spot today.

Going from 0 to 5 hours of sun I would definitely say sunburn.

Ah someone else who has one of these guys. To be fair I haven’t seen mine through a Spring yet but can say any environmental change seems to instigate leaf drop in these guys.

I’ve been transitioning mine to our sun porch for a few hours a day and have foliage loss. That said it initially started happening under grow lighting and hasn’t gotten stopped. I thought it could be a mite. issue but treatment didn’t help the issue.

Given what you’ve outlined I would think sunburn but could be the plant being finicky from change of environment.
