Here are some pics of some buds, I do love this time of year. Stewartia buds are silvery and downy, so nice, and montpelier maple is polka dotted and fat. They are downy when they open. Hawthorn is deciding to be a twin!!! yay.

And at this time of year, it would be a sin to post without putting up maple leaves...
(you hear me M5???)
That second one is my triple trunk, as you can see I went the suggested route, and did a couple major cutbacks. The middle trunk is starting to give me a bud almost where I want it... a bit to the side but at least the right side, but perfect in height on the trunk. The tree had to be planted a bit lower on one side to accomplish some root work.

I love the differences between types of buds, it's really amazing how varied nature is. Here are some crape myrtle buds.

Love the pics. I thought I would share a few of mine and mix it up a bit with a juniper and austrian pine too.

Wow I'm surprised was this in your greenhouse? My crapes have yet to start to swell along all the landscape ones around these parts.

My potted crapes also budded a few weeks ago. I'd assume it has to do with the soil in the pots location warming faster on spring days than the earth. My landscape crapes wont bud until May.

Started in spring, but I do love fall buds!

They tell of winter hardiness.
