I seem to have something eating my California Juniper. I went the OSH and got some general bug spray. I'm wondering how safe is this for my tree? Should I try and cover the soil when I spray? How often should I spray? Is it bad for the tree at all?

I would imagine folks will want specifics on what you are using (active ingredients and so forth) Also, an attempt at the beasties you have. I would get a sheet of plain white copier paper and hold it under a branch and tap it a few times. A good bet is spider mites. Maybe even a high-res close up picture of the damage.

I agree with the others Yenling this is a discovery you need to make.

What are you seeing for damage, have you seen critters???

Worst case would be to call the # on the packaging and ask the company that made it.

If it's S mites then you'll need a potent debugger.

READ the label

Carefully!

There are many things to consider.
What kind of tree? Maple, Juniper, Pine......
What kind of bug? Sucking, Chewing, Boring......
What kind of damage are you seeing?
The answers to these types of questions will help to determine the proper approach to solving the problem.

Hope this helps,
