Anybody purchased big bags of pumice and had other softer material in it? Are there different pumice hardnesses I.e crushable?

I bought a bag from a local grower supplier. It had some softer stuff mixed in almost like it was cut with something else. Sneaky cost savings or is there pumice that is softer and smashable?

Never seen it myself. Usually the pumice I’ve handled is uniform with only a little dross. I really can’t see cutting pumice myself, it’s too cheap and the likely fillers wouldn’t make folks much money at all.

Of course there are different types of pumice though, as volcanos aren’t made a the volcano manufacturing line 😉.
Thus pumice of different origins are more and less porous... that would make it “softer” and “harder“.

Consequently some pumice will be more “crumbly“ then others.

I buy bulk pumice by the cu.yd.and it's pretty much consistent hardness. It is everything from sand up to almost half inch chunks, but hardly any powders. All the bagged stuff I've seen is pretty crappy by comparison.
