This trident was dug today. It has been in the ground most of 10 years, and I've been eyeing it for a sumo-shohin. It might be too big for my plan, but we'll see how things go of the next few years. It's going to need a lot of root work to get there.

My entry for the big PP contest: :D

Looking good Brian! How long ago did you last chop it? Can we see the wound and how it is healing? Just curious to see what kind of wood you have covering it at this point...

Going to be a great little tree!

Yes super Brian!!!!

So nice to see the maple forum so busy these days due in great part to Al. We even got none other than Mr. Pall posting here again. This will be a lot of fun to watch!

Agreed! The forum in general has been bursting with positive activity and mostly good discussion, lots of pictures!! Great turn considering the negativity we were dealing with a couple months ago. Really great to see!

Another muscular trunk!

Is this from Iowa too, or the Bams?

This is the sort of trident trunk that I want to grow. (cue for music) Fat bottomed with movement starting down low, and that nebari is going to be a killer one day.

June update...
Defoliated.
Sacrifice leader shortened; will be removed when the shoot below is growing again.
Pruned to select primary branches.
Wired to position branches.

Bonsai pruning in the living room? I haven't done that since I was single! Wife out of town or something? LOL
