Recently collected this caeserweed which has grown In a way that is favorable for cascading.

Despite being an invasive weed, I am quite fond of the velvety dark green leaves and chocolate brown stems. I'm envisioning a cascade of Lilly pads, since the leaves remind me of them.

And here is the specimen after transplanting into a pond basket of DE. It dropped all of its leaves from the shock but has begun pushing out new growth in a matter of days.

Interesting species. Somewhat like a hibiscus, with small leaves and small flowers. I'll be interested seeing progression photos of this one. Good use of an invasive species. Nice.
I believe it to be a close relative of the hibiscus. The flowers look like miniature versions of hibiscus flowers and the wood texture is identical to my cranberry hibiscus.

You must be in FL! We call that a cockle bur and spray them by the millions in the woods my family owns. They’re almost as bad as kudzu, and air potatos. Ok those are vines. It’s harder to control than tropical soda apple! I know you love your tree but if I had my way it would be in the burn barrel today!

If you insist on growing it please dispose of the seeds via fire, or toilet or some other way they will never be released into the wild. It may not be classified as a noxious weed but it should be! There are better species in FL! Maybe a wild Lantana?

Sorry I just hate those bastards with a passion! I’ve seen few that might make decent bonsai but I’d rather have nothing but hickory in my collection than have a cocklebur!

Good luck and please don’t let it spread! Lol

What’s this guy doin’ these days?
It dropped its leaves from the initial collection and then dropped its 2nd flush after getting jostled in the car during transportation. Couldn't recover from that and died. Truth be told it was my own impatience more than anything that took this tree.

I have one of its babies which I am giving time to establish. Like @Trenthany said these things are highly invasive in FL so there is no shortage of them.
