Anyone tried doing any work with an American Beauty Berry ???
I know that the Japanese Beauty Berry is used...
I have seen some awesome Bonsai made with the Japanese version.
But, haven't heard or seen any with the American version...

Here... thought I would post a pic of a Japanese version
of the Beauty Berry as a Bonsai...

I've never seen one with any form of a substantial trunk. Very interesting though... That picture is wonderful.

I bought 3 plants while on vacation, they are very young plants...
I got them for $12 each and figured I might wire the trunks, to
give them movement... Then plant then out in the yard for a
couple of years or more... Probably leave the wire on and let it
purposely scar the tree.

Sorry no pics... will try and take some in the morning and get them up !!!
Nice thing is that it doesn't seem to be a problem with them fruiting...
Mine already have tons of them.

Americana is a bit coarse and has leaves that are a bit large. If you do one, it would have to be a large bonsai, and in the wild you seldom see one with a thick enough trunk or base.

I understand and totally agree about the foliage size...
My thought was I would display it without the foliage
just the berries.

As far as trunk size, I agree with you as well...
I plan on using these 3 plants as more of an
experiment and see how it goes...
But, I was thinking of trying to purposely scar the trunk
with wire, like one does with Junipers and Pines, to
help increase the trunk size. We'll see how it goes...
