I thought they were maybe fukiens, but neither have leaves at all shaped like my [sadly dormant] fukien. The smaller of the two has tiny buds that carry 10 small brown seeds in them about the size of the head of a needle.

Dormant Fukien? I don't know the species except that it's either tropical or sub-tropical. Which should make it an evergreen that doesn't go dormant - in your photo its' leaves are looking a bit sickly/yellowish brown and maybe dry?
Plant is not at all healthy and I suspect it is dying. I am just guessing that it has root rot judging from the picture of the soil. The other plants are opportunistic weeds, probably due to wet soil.
