I have been very impressed at the ability of some members to identify azalea/ rhododendron types so thought I'd take a shot with this one that decided to show its first flowers in my care

(I plan to shorten branches and tidy up but wanted to let the flowers do their thing one time first and I have not been disappointed)

I'm confused that its only flowering now too any info on late flowering is it cultivar specific? Seems to be this years growth flowering too what i thought were buds and hoped to see bloom were old and spent.
