This one should be right up Neli’s alley. While searching for a grafting donor I came across this Cape Honeysuckle. It’s the first one I’ve seen in this area. I did a little excavating and probably need to wait for a repot to determine if there are one or two trunks in there. One thing for sure, it has more T’s than a Spanish Beach. I doubt it will make a good bonsai but any care suggestions would be appreciated.

They are very easy shrubs...native here. I have not tried it as bonsai but as hedge...cut back all the time...I am a bit discouraged by the compound lead...but they are pretty in lower.

I'm going to put it in a grow box in the spring. We get in the teens occasionally where I live in Florida. I've read it's a semitropical shrub. What kind of protection would you recommend for the winter?

I am not sure since we dont have much cold here. I know temperatures around SA are very different...and some places go double figures bellow 0 in Celsius... but I am not sure where it can survive....but google says zone 9-11
