I think I had a mental block to styling something as a cascade. Luckily, I found this tree to open my mind about the concept. I think I had to find a true cascade to try it.

The National show had a few cascades that really inspired me.

Does anyone have any specific care or health tips for this? Mostly I am conserned that I can not properly keep it mulched in over the winter like my other trees because it simply can’t sit properly on the ground. I may just have to mulch it sideways but it’s such a cascade the box may not get much water.

Mostly I was excited to find this tree and wanted to share it. It was growing on the side of a large boulder by the lake. Very “Karate Kid” type yamadori :)

When my cascade bougainvillea comes in for winter. I use a pot to sit the pot in and it allows me to angle the pot so the tree gets good light from the grow lights. Being outside...maybe a cylinder block so it can handle cold...that would allow that cascading branch to be more horizontal than cascading...and then mulch in.
