This was removed yesterday from the growing troughs.
Because it is Lafayette, Louisiana, and I believe a zone 9, with hot, humid summers and about 3 days of spring, it can be left in the ground for 2 years and give no problems. It will however be wintered in the fridge this year.

Colander grown and in the colander left in the growing trough. The colander was buried under less than 1/2" of soil/ broken brick, to protect it from UV.

The idea was a 3" or close to that trunk, as 15" height is the limit for the fridge.
Showing the large roots that grew out. There are 3.
The rest of the year will be spent letting the colander do it's thing and air prune any other roots.
Restoring what we call the core.
Good Morning
Anthony

Images 2 and 3 show the large root growing out of the colander.
