I'm thinking of using a soil mixture consisting of
Lava Rock 1/2
Perlite 1/4
Peat Moss 1/4

I'm new to bonsai and i'm wondering if any of yall have any recommendations for soil mixture in Texas area.

Welcome,
I've had good luck with lava rock, pumice, turface and a little charcoal. 1/4 inch in size. With trees that like more water I throw in a couple of handfuls of potting soil. That's just what works well with me. Also add pine bark fines for some trees.

I would not use peat moss but lava and perlite are good. Switch peat moss to pine bark (maybe 40 % for deciduous trees).

Disclaimer - I am giving this advice without knowing your local conditions. I know some locations in TX can be very hot and dry.

Can you attend a local bonsai club to ask others? Also you shouldn't be repotting now.
