i have a buncha cuttings that’s been thriving for the past month under a partially shaded tree and recently a few new leaves on my weeping cherry seem to yellowing and a couple brown tips. the kazan cuttings has brown tips also and a new shoot seems to be dying.

any idea what’s causing this? this is my first time propagating i can’t afford for these babies to fail me now

secondly, a deer bit off the tip of my newly collected pine in spring now it’s back budding like crazy, counted about 14 shoots all in one area. should i leave them be for now to thicken the trunk or pinch them to stop the shoots from going crazy? thought on any other methods would be appreciated

If the cherry has rooted . I would push it into more sun . All prunus love sun and most can not tolerate shade . As long as they have rooted . I would not be to concerned about the brown if it bothers you and you are worried it’s a disease cut it off . Trying to figure out what species the pine is looks 2 needle . I would let it grow it’s small and young let the top grow un checked to thicken the trunk . The future bonsai is in the growth around the bottom

they both have roots that about to grow out the pot. i will watch them more closely, if it seems to spread then i’ll cut.

it’s a pitch pine, heard they have have similar growth pattern to black pine and ok will do. thank you

I thought it might be pitch pine but could not see clearly in your pic for the three needles . I have some also the pitch pine will sprout from around the base this is normal . One of the main thing that draws me to pitch pune is it is one of the very few conifers that will sprout from a stump . Or more accurately from bare mature wood . When heavily pruned . This simple ability gives it great bonsai potential .
