This tree took a helluva beating over the last winter. I cut it back to stubs, repotted, fertilized, then watched it struggle. Assuming we don't repeat this next winter, it may be making it. I even added a bit of wire this afternoon (a sight to behold with my shaking hands!) More wiring needed at lower right, but I think I'll look for help, first, rather than risk a broken branch. Tough, I suppose I could go off the shaky-hand medication for a few days beforehand.:oops:

The lighting was bad today, so the color is a bit off, but here's what it looks like today. That's an 8 inch wide pot.

Nice tree. I like it in this pot, the proportions and just right. Good job

Jamie

Thanks, Judy. I think it was a lot nicer before last winter, but that's the way it goes.

Jamie. I like the pot, too, but it is just a mica training pot; nothing the tree could stay in if someone ever has higher hopes for it.

That's pretty big for a Dazzle! I have a Strawberry about half that size but the trunk has no movement. I'm going to cut down to a nub next year and see what happens.

Hmmm. That was one of the smaller Cherry dazzles in the nursery. It stands about 10-11 inches tall now. Was about 24 inches when I got it.

The ones I've found around here at landscape nurseries (when you can find them) all have trunks about 1/2" or so.

Go to Tallahassee and visit Tallahassee Nurseries on Thomasville Road.

I know it well and I'll have to check it out. What do you think of the JM in the center of the nursery? Esposito's on Capital Circle has some interesting stuff from time to time as well.

I left Tallahassee 10 years ago and haven't been in the nurseries since. I never found things to be quite as healthy at Esposito's.
