No.
@Eckhoffw I guess that wintering cabinet you spent so much time on isn't nearly as big as it needs to be. šŸ˜›
Itā€™s not. However, Iā€™m just keeping these guys on top of it. So no biggie for now.
They have a window. If there not happy they can hope for a better like next time around.

A friend gave me one of these DAS in a red pot last spring. The thing had not been watered all winter and had just been sitting on a covered porch receiving whatever rain/snow blew in onto it. It survived just fine and is now in a landscaping bed at my house. But I'm in zone 6, not 4!

Yeah. I hear you. Iā€™m hoping the tad warmer temps in the garage will help.

All are in rough shape.
Digginā€™ a Alberta burial site.
Trees are varying from completely gone, to ok at best.
I knew I would see dead plants, but now am wondering if thereā€™s anything I should do special to save the ones hanging on.0B2F923D-9799-44ED-ADBF-839560615F79.jpeg93820E4D-5D85-4F2F-AFFC-8EAD58F1266A.jpeg4E3FDA5B-6E22-4AE9-8D4A-91E2B7D92308.jpeg
Any tips would be very appreciated.
Im hoping to save enough for a smaller forest group someday. šŸ˜
Thank you.

Wow! That's a rough looking bunch. Its too early for serious spider mite infestation so they must have dried out.
Plant them in the ground somewhere and revisit them in 2 or 3 years.

I've seen DAS left on a porch all winter that looked like this that recovered after being planted.

That means I can make a mini forest in my yard!
Would you wait and plant soon or fall?

Well...after putting 6 in the ground, 6 in the compost pile, I decided to put the remaining 7 in a box. I was set to make a forest, and damnit, I couldnā€™t just stare at these things in their Christmas pots any more. 99E4154D-83BE-49DF-B30B-5C412AB1DA70.jpeg6F195FEC-3EB5-4AB6-BDF0-41810E803442.jpeg36B90EAD-E42C-4E0B-B916-8F7590126576.jpeg

Some life in each, but definitely a forest to stray into, lie down, and die šŸ˜.D9716274-2312-44C1-AD44-53BE086DFA03.jpeg0A10F7C3-0540-482D-AD52-9328792C9459.jpeg647B1D17-B55C-43EE-8E6E-0BA8255D4EE6.jpeg
Thanks, and take care.

With the new little Christmas tree 2023/26 contest in stride,
I found it relevant to update this post.

Letā€™s just say things didnā€™t go very well for these trees. None of them made it to the point of being planted In a forest group.

I canā€™t remember exactly how many I bought. I think like 18.

Out of all of those only five survived. Those five got put in the ground at my previous house. I drove by the old house and saw they were still alive.
- they are the ones I did the least amount of hack on.
None of them Made it to a new pot.

however, I have zero regrets!šŸ¤£šŸ˜Š

It was a lot of fun.

Closure.
What factors do you think went into losing so many?
