So I have 15 BCs and can even use more if I need.

I am planning to make a BC forest. I have two choices.
1. Use Wigert Mica forest pot 26”x 12” and make a more or less normal size forest.

2. Use a 40” x 20” stainless steel tray that I have and make a kick ass forest. Later I will transfer it to a more suitable pot.

What say you?

I just realize that it is too hard to fit those trees into the Mica pot. Monster forest here we come.

... and I thought my 16" pot I bought from ABCarve is big. Live and learn.
Can't wait to see what you crank out

15 tree forest. This time I took the time to number the trees and arranged them on paper first. Placement from 1 to 9 was deliberate. The rest were just little ones I jammed in mostly in the back. Ad you can see, there was no way to create any depth with the 26” pot. I barely fit in these trees to the big tray.

When were these collected?

I like the forest.

Is that a condenser drip tray from your air conditioner?

Yesterday afternoon.
Yes it is. Remnant of the hurricane stricken house.
"I'm moving to Pa. I collected a forest yesterday..."

I like this composition, two entrances and a path to me

Composition looks pretty good, the biggest tree on the outside bothers my eye a little bit
I shudder to think about moving it 20' let alone to Pennsylvania! that pan looks flimsy AF

I pretty much went by the recommendation of a book and place the #2 tree at the out side on the dominant tree group. The picture was taken at close distance with my cell phone. That angle exaggerate the size of #2 tree. Things look much better in real life to my eyes.

What is going to be lowest height on branches when it buds and where?

These are collected trees. They will bud wherever they want. I will keep them all the first year to establish the roots. I will figure things out later.

I love the large tree to the side with the forest. It looks as if the forest continues and you are just looking at a part of it. Keeps the eyes moving rather then a centered focal point.

Hi @Cajunrider
Just wanting to say how cool your forest looks, even if I am not so sure about the big tree out left.
For your soil media for this, is that straight bark chip plus compost (pine or something)?

The muck wall is clay and swamp reeds. The soil is 2/3 cheap top soil 1/3 soil conditioner which is mostly bark chip. Soon as I could I throw in Osmocotes Plus.
