June 06, 2022 collected a big specimen.
Tree was knocked down by heavy equipment some months ago.
Natural branches on the tree gives it excellent taper. At the time of collection, two angle cuts were made. The tree is well set to be bonsai. The key thing now is to keep it alive and get it to bud.

Two tiny buds at the bottom. Nothing up top yet.

It looks promising with several buds forming higher. It is the best looking trunk I have.

The tree struggled for a long time before starting to grow. I need to leave it alone for a while to recover from all the shocks it received.

Moved to a mica training pot. This tree has a lot of potential. It is definitely one of my prized Crataegus. Nebari will have to be developed a lot more but the base is there.

The tree responded to being in the mica pot, pruned, wired, and carved beautifully.
