I drink a lot of tea too. I place those bags around the tree just at the edge of the nebari for my potted plants and vegetables. 2 for 8" post, 3 for 10", 4 for 12", etc.. Whenever the bags disintegrate, I put in new ones. That's about 6 weeks I think.

Brought the ficus home for a couple weeks and it grows like crazy. I will need to remove the wire in a month or two.
