Well gentle reader, you should know by now we go through stages
of development with new trees / shrubs.

First stage is Health, second stage is observing branch density, ability to
trunk thicken, and so on, before training.
Can you make it lush ?

Here are the results - visually.
[1] Soil mix is 1/3 compost 1/3 inorganic non porous 1/3 inorganic porous.
This is a full sun and thirsty shrub from Barbados.

Standard 1/3 strength Miracle Gro Lawn Fertiliser once a week into moist
soil.

We had a bug eating the leaf problem.
Solution seemed to be wilting, giving off eat me signals.
Also a tiny stick of growing fine thyme.

Now to do the others.
Good Day

There are half a dozen Clerodendron species with small leaves that are used or should be used for bonsai. The species from Puerto Rico, C. aculeata is particularly good for bonsai, small fragrant white flowers, and rough bark.

Do you know which species you have there?

Apologies Leo,

all I know is that the cutting came from someone in Port of Spain,
the front yard and was originally from Barbados.
They are supposed to grow wild over there.

I have never picked up any scent from the flowers, but
now I will make a point of sniffing.

I believe this plant will make an exceptional Bonsai, like the Serissa s.
and Sageretia t.
But it also has the same survival problem, budding everywhere,
and especially on old wood.
So 3 to 5 of these at 15 to 24 inches would probably drive you nuts
trying to keep it tidy :)

Heals like a boss as well.
Thanks for looking.
Good Day
Anthony
