Should I clip off the big one (arrow) and leave A & B to continue?

Yup, really depends both on species of pine as well as plans later this year. If it's JBP or JRP we're dealing with and you're going to decandle this summer, I'd break the overlong candle in half then remova all three candles at the appropriate time for your location. If you're not decandling this year, I'd reduce everything to 2 buds of equal vigor.

Yep. JBP. Will do.

Thanks. :)

All growth adds trunk size. Keep until last minute☺️.

Okay, last minute is approaching fast.
Which shoots should go? (or be shortened?)

I'm thinking probably 4.

1 is a straight up one. Not sure.

2,3, and 5 left on.

Any disagreements?

I just sinned. I wired a green shoot. Too damn bad!
The tree was getting itself into a Gordian knot!
At least WHERE to cut shoots is clearer now.

If we’re dealing with a Japanese black pine and you are de-candling to induce a second flush of growth this year, you need to remove all of the candles entirely.

That comes in a month. This was correcting a REALLY funky shoot/limb.
The removal will be on other limbs.
Which I can see now. 😊
