Do any of your clubs have members who regularly set up a vending table at meetings? If so, does the club charge them any sort of fee? I'm trying to figure out the fairest solution to a tricky subject.

Dave

At a meeting? A member? No charge. Consider it a service.

At a show. Charge. Whatever the going rate is.

I don't believe we charge members for something like that (i should know this kinda stuff im the VP ) ..... anyways jkl's suggestion works out for me ... granted our club is small so someone doing this would be interesting for us... with larger clubs it could be considered cumbersome and you may want to charge a small feel to limit the activity .....

Tricky indeed.

I believe our club doesn't allow vending. There is a once a year event though where everyone can bring and sell (or swap) bonsai related stuff.

Our club gets a 20% commission on any sales by members at club events. Commercial vendors pay $40/table to vend at our show but no added commission.

20% to the club it the sale happens at a meeting. Ditto If it's a club-advertized sale; if it's a vendor area at a show then I would say a table fee is more appropriate. These are the rules that almost all clubs in the San Francisco bay area use, not sure about other parts of the country.

Hi Dave,
BSUNY allows vendors at meetings but NO Bonsai for sale, only Pre Bonsai/nursery stock and other supplies, books, stands and the like. 10% goes to the club.
At the Exhibit, flat price per each table ( $50.00 I believe)and a small item donated to the club raffle.
Hope that helps.
Mark

We do 10%, we have a few members that grow out stock. If a traveling artist/lecturer comes along we don't get them for hawking thier wears.

Thanks for the replies. This gives me a good benchmark moving forward.
