Clump Syle Maple ala Bjorn

Yall got me wanting to clump something. So…. We’re gonna try this with bald cypresses. Why not. I just happened to have saved some soup can lids for this exact purpose. So here we go, 10 cypress seedlings wired underneath where the disc goes. I’m using a fabric pot to hopefully encourage a good root ball when it’s ready to seperate.
Cypress root trimmed and planted.

Good hint using a soup can lid with a hole in the center to get those new roots moving laterally. Feelin' eager now to make more clumps!

Here we go again.. more JM seedlings on deck.


Another batch I’m thinking of turning into a forest group with a little wire. Simple. Some of the thicker ones have bends at the old pruning points.

There is a 5th seedling in there, a little too small to wire now.
