Collected from a growing field? I dont have any history.

American Elm- Soil is weird, like a sponge. Almost feels like its all root mass?

This Spring Its due for a repot and seeing if nebari is worth it. If not I may ground layer.

I will probably clean up the stump this year and let it run until early summer -Then Branch select and cut back hard (depending on health)

Will update when I get around to choosing a front and take a proper pic.

Needs a hard structural cutback first! But that hedge technique might be in the cards, depending on the vigor. Im excited to see the nebari, just need to decide if it should
Make a stop in a colander before a bonsai pot.

No, I am not 100% sure its american Elm.It was partially defoliated before shipping so the pics are hard to tell, but the center of the leaf is a bit bit fatter than the siberian elms ive seen. But it may be a Siberian. I wont know until next year when I get some decent growth.

Did some clean-up on the old chop area. I have been wanting to try Using cyanoacrylate to seal the wood, so I gave that a shot. We can see how it holds up, the tree is pretty rootbound and doesnt have that much foliage though. Not sure how aggressive it will roll this season.




A cool shot of the bark and the warty look of some old prune stubs. Think Im going to leave those though.
