Took advantage of the warm day yesterday and dug a couple Hornbeam I’ve had my eye on. Potted up today with the mix of pumice and horticulture DE and a bit of sphagnum to aid with the rooting as there was not many small feeder roots. Will update with some more pictures, got too dark to take final shots.30323F52-B5D6-427B-819E-0A3DE7D9D4A0.jpegAADC39BD-6BEB-451E-A132-3F1CFE074AB4.jpeg4C5F27BB-6355-418A-B366-AB8D420E98FF.jpeg17B3C24A-96EB-4D95-9C25-1767DCF0F721.jpeg

Had some time to get some pics of these all potted up, very excited for the twisty big boy. Can’t decide if I should chop any lower on the first two, thoughts ?5D5368C9-93EC-4D83-B10B-5D227E48414C.jpegDA44A924-1989-4F97-AA70-57D0E48483C1.jpegD73EEB8A-B813-4334-81FB-BEED55C84F79.jpegF4A8D4AE-373F-4F69-8CC3-2A34E1C35B1C.jpeg9AB0DEC7-4159-4913-BA5D-E065E1E77757.jpeg

I'd keep the suckers for this year to help rebuild the roots. Remove them in autumn

I’d go with keeping it watered properly and having it get healthy...roots and trunk...especially the roots. It's always interesting to find out where the dieback occurs and where the buds form. A world of surprises.

Update #1 (second tree in OP with the suckers)

this tree did not put out any buds on the main trunk after collection. I think this was probably because I did not seal the cut properly compounded with the abundance of available energy from the suckers. Today I cut out the trunk and wired suckers. While not ideal I think this new direction is interesting. I really wish I had put a longer wire on the main so I did not need to double up through the top 🤬

Update # 2 (fourth tree in OP; big twisty boy)

this tree did not respond well to collection. It put out many shoots of new growth on the now dead top in 2020 all of those shoots had died by the fall. The lower growth did survive but lost much of the original movement I collected it for 😕 carved out the top section and cleaned up wounds yesterday in the greenhouse
