Collected Arakawa Maple Seeds

Hello everyone,

I collected these Maple seeds from my Arakawa along with some dropped leaves in late October and just sprinkled them over the surface of one of my garden pots.

I’ve got a lot of freshly sprouting seedlings, I have two questions about this.

1. How and when would be best to remove these to avoid damaging them?

2. Is there any chance that they will have any traits from the parent plant?

I recently purchased a few bags of seeds from arakawa maples from a respectable trader in Europe. He indicated that they normally get 20-40% rough barked maples from these seeds.

That’s great news! I would’ve been happy either way, I just need to identify which is which somehow.

Anything that should be done to ensure they thrive? Don’t want them dying off for a silly mistake!

I’m a bit worried about the temperature over the next week or so meant to drop to -1C I’m sure they should okay there’s not too much I can do to protect them anyway

My japanese maples have seen -4 last spring (?) while having fully extended first leaves. The next morning I have a few rips in the leaves, nothing more serious
